Gaelic Football Season

Our girls and boys football teams were in action in  October 2019 playing for a spot in the Cuman Na mBunscoil Schools' finals. We had a superb boys team on the pitch on Thursday October 11th but were prevented from progressing by a stronger Lisnagry side. The girls performed  exceptionally well in their competition winning all of their matches.  The girls team secured a spot in the school finals in the Gaelic Grounds scheduled for November 11th.  It was  the start of a great week for our school as the girls won the East trophy after a thrilling match. On Friday November 15th our girls travelled to Rathkeale where we met a very strong team from Corpus Christi. The semi final was a tense affair. It was a high scoring  game with great play from both schools.  After ten minutes of extra time our school emerged as winners. We met Ahalyin in the county final which was another great game with Roxborough school emerging as worthy winners.

Scoil an Spioraid Naoimh has had a long and proud tradition of involvement in Primary Schools Basketball. We have had wonderful success over the years in both boys and girls basketball in all divisions. In 2019 our girls and boys teams  played in the Limerick primary School league and both teams made it to the finals of this competiton which were played at the arena. Our boys lost out to a strong St. Nessans side and  our girls lost out to Limerick School Project. Our teams are working hard for the 2020 season/

Scoil An Spioraid Naoimh entered the FAI soccer league for the first time in 2010.  Our record in this tournament has been impressive. Our boys and girls teams each won  Munster titles in 2011 and 2014. Both teams went on to  represent the school at national level. Our trip to the Aviva stadium in 2014 was a memorable occasion. Our boys and girls are currently looking forward to the 2020 season.

The Primary Schools Cross Country  event took place at the Patrickswell Race Course on October 16th 2019. Our school  had 59 competitors ranging from under 8s to over 12s. We had some fantastic individual performances and some incredible team performances. We had a great turn out from parents for this  outing in ideal weather conditions.  Well done to all our competitors.

The summer season wouldn't be complete without the Jack Leahy Cup hurling tournament. Our young hurlers were in action in the Jack Leahy cup in June. This is a local competition involving the local schools. Well done to Donoughmore school who won the cup in 2019.
