FAI  5 - side

Our school entered four teams in the FAI 5 a side soccer this year. All teams did exceptionally well and qualified for the final stages of the Limerick competition. The standard of football in Limerick is exceptionally high. Our boys played brilliantly but narrowly missed out in a place in the county final. The girls did exceptionally well with one team qualifying for the county final.
There was much excitement at the county final and the girls played wonderful football. with very little between the teams the girls got through on goal difference.
The Munster final took place on May 9th in Cahir. The standard was exceptionaly high and Clare and Cork were in our section.  Having beaten Clare we went into a semifinal against Kerry. The girls powered through the seminfinal and had to face a strong Cork side again. It looked like an uphill battle having gone two nil down. Equalising before half time left the Cork team rattled. With great help from the suppporters on the side line the girls took an early lead and we finished 5, 3 and emerged as Munster Champions. Well done ladies.

Gaelic Football Season

It has been a very active and successful season  for our boys and girls football teams.  The boys mini sevens team captained by  William Malone sailed through the first round of this competition.  One week later after thrilling matches they emerged as East champions.  On November 28th the mini sevens boys team had a chance of a county title. We came up just short finishing in second place winning two of our three matches.
The full squad began defending their 2022 East title in the 13-a-side commencing in October. They defended their title in style making a big comeback in the second half to retain the trophy at the new GAA pitch in Oola. It was a very proud moment when team Captain Adam O'Brien lifted the trophy.
It was a wonderful occasion to have our girls 12 -a -side team also in the East final. The opposition proved too strong for our young team captained by Aoibhinn Goggin. The mini sevens girls team captained by Lydia also got through the early rounds of the competition to play to the East final.

On March 25th the basketball season began. We have  two really competitive teams in this years inter schools competition. Our boys team enjoyed an unbeaten run until the Division 1 semi final. It was a shame to miss out on a match at the arena. The girls team emerged as the Division One winners  in an incredible display of basketball skills at the UL arena on Friday June 3rd 2022. The team captained by Robyn Walsh notched up an phenomenal score to clinch the title.

The FAI season got off to a flying start  at Seanchoill in March. We had four teams in action two boys teams and two girls teams. The pupils had a great day out  and all teams are moving forward to the next leg of this competition.

Our runners  were delighted to get the opportunity to display their athletics skills at the Hall of Athletics event that took place in Mary Immaculate college in March. It was a very well organised event with lots of unusual events planned. Our pupils had a great day out taking part in relays, hurdlles, chest pushes, speed bounces etc. The pupils were very successful arriving back in school with lots of silverware.
We are all looking forward to the Primary school Athletics on May 17th
