Physical Education
Our Motto:
Be Active Be Cool Have Fun at School.
All classes are timetabled for one hour PE per week. Our aim is to achieve a physical educated and physically active school. We recognise the importance of developing childrens fundamental movements skills (FMS). We try to encorporate FMS into physical education lessons on a regular basis. We have many active school initiatives including "Running Around Europe", drop everything and dance, playground leaders and the fitkidz challenge. An important part of our school calendar is Active School Week.
Outdoor and Adventure
We are currently developing this strand in the school. Senior pupils planned maps of the school and have attempted to draw it to scale. The experience of mapping the school ties in well with the SESE and mathematics curriculum. Simple lessons in orientering have been undertaken by the pupils throughout the school. We have had a number of visits from Ted who has a keen interest in orienteering and has developed a very professional map of the school. This has given us the opportunity to develp a number of orienteering courses around the school. This has proved to be a very popular strand with our pupils.

Aquatics and Water Safety.
Our pupils from second to sixth class have swimming lessons each year over an eight week term. Pupils at the senior level undertake some life saving activities as part of their swimming lessons. Pupils throughout the school study the Land Paws programme of Water Safety as part of the SPHE programme. This is targetted particularly in the final term in order to increase pupils awareness of the need to take care around water.
