Fitzkids Walking Challenge
Our pupils took part in the Fitzkids Walking Challenge  which commenced on May 14th and continued to June 15th. Our pupils took on the challenge of walking distances of 10km to 21km over the four weeks. It was a very popular part of the day for pupils who recorded their journeys in the booklets provided by Limerick Sports' Partnership.

Cuman Na mBunscoil
We have a long and proud tradition of woking with Cumann na mBunscoil to promote football, hurling and rounders. This year we had great success on the pitch and Emily represented the school and Limerick in Croke Park.

South Liberties GAA Club
South Liberties GAA club is our local GAA club. The club is very accommodating in providing facilities to the school for walks, football and hurling matches. The school supports the club passing on formation to the pupils about family fun days and training sessions for football and soccer. There is a great welcome for local teams when the visit  particularly after a successful season.

Primary School Basketball
We have always tried to promote  basketball among our pupils.  We have two basketball courts and it is a very popular lunchtime activity. Our senior pupils enjoy  competing in the Limerick league and in friendly tournaments throughou the year. Again Our School staff are very involved in the running of this event.

Catholic Institute Tennis Tasters
The local tennis coach has visited our school on a number of occasions to work with all ages offering them tennis taster sessions.

Primary Schools Athletics
The pupils look forward to the Primary schools' Cross country event every autumn and the athletics finals in the summer. The advantage of both of these events is the emphasis on team work. Our school is involed in the orgamisation of the Primary Schools' Athletics event each year.

Munster Rugby
Over the last few years we have had Munster rugby coaches visiting and coaching our pupils fourth to sixth over a number of weeks each spring. It is very active and enjoyable. The pupils were asked to play in a local blitz which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Super Troopers  with Laya Health Care
All pupilshave been given the Laya Health Care Sper Trooper Booklets which are accompanied withan Activity wall Chart. Puils are encouraged to do the activities during the week.

Beat the Street
On September 16th  2017 streetmaps, fobs and cards were distributed among the pupils, staff and parents to join in the Beat in the Street initiative. The pupils did  their best to accumulate points for the school as an after school activity.  Our pupils safety was of utmost  importance while carrying out this activity.  It was a great opprotunity to get out and about with the family, to get to  know the city and to use map reading skills also.  We were delighted to take part in the Limerick Sports Partnership Initiative. The parental survey revealed that this proved popular with many parents.

European Week Of Sport
During the week September 24th to 28th our school joined in the initiative to get the pupils of Europe active. We were fortunate  to have a week of fine weather. Our local tennis coach paid us a visit and worked with junior and senior classes. The skipping ropes were used regularly throughout the week. Our running initiative got under way during this week also.
